Las Cruces / Old Mesilla / Hatch

From the shady tree-lined plazas of an 1800's village to old Spanish churches, Las Cruces, the state's second largest city, is truly Southern New Mexico's international city.

Las Cruces is a whole new world at your fingertips: an unhurried atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy yourself. So indulge and bathe yourself in sunshine!

Experience the difference that is Las Cruces. Dine in territorial elegance, enjoy spicy chile verde in a New Mexican cantina or sip a frosty margarita to the strains of lively mariachi music.

    What to do and see

Tour Las Cruces' many landmarks and historic sites; the Bicentennial Log Cabin, built in 1879 and furnished in accordance with the period, and the newly built NM Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

New Mexico State University hosts concerts, symphonies, theater, and art exhibits. While on campus, visit the Clyde Tombaugh Observatory, the Solar Energy and Water Resources Institutes. Both the Chamber Ballet and the Rite Combination Dance Company make their home in Las Cruces.

Special Events include the Whole Enchilada Fiesta, Renaissance Arts Craftfaire, the Southern New Mexico State Fair and the NM Wine and Chile War Festival.

Travel to Picacho Peak, explore Aguirre Springs Recreation Area, Dripping Springs, or enjoy Las Cruces' three golf courses and numerous parks.

See the Gadsden Museum's collection of memorabilia, gathered by the Fountain family for four generations. At Christmas, enjoy Mesilla's Historic Home Tours, and carols and luminarias on the plaza.
